I graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2011. At the time of graduation, Times Higher Education World University Rankings rated the University of Glasgow Dental School as the overall best Dental School in the UK. In my Final Year, I was awarded the prestigious University of Glasgow Quaich for 'Outstanding Achievement' by the Dean of the Dental School Professor. Jeremy Bagg. Following graduation I began my career as a dentist in Fort William. During my time there I was part of an award-winning team, who were awarded 'Best NHS Practice' and ‘Practice of the year - North’. (Dentistry Scotland Awards 2011).
Since 2011, I have been working in busy dental practices, cementing my reputation as a highly skilled and sought after clinician. My interest and passion to alleviate pain began during my undergraduate years, where I volunteered in an emergency dental clinic for impoverished people in India for a month. These skills further developed after graduation, as I have worked in emergency dental clinics since my graduation. Because of my experience in the Emergency Dental Service, I was approached by an NHS Health Board at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, to assist with the management of patients in pain. In order to assist, I was required to be fitted with special Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), one of the earliest to do so in Scotland. This was an invaluable experience for me in helping me expand my skills. As all the dental practices were closed for a considerable amount of time, there was such a large backlog of patient’s suffering pain and requiring subsequent necessary treatment.
Outside Dentistry, I like visiting new countries and have always enjoyed the differences in culture and customs experienced while travelling. I am happily married and have been blessed with a 6 year old daughter and a 4 year old son. We no longer require an alarm clock in our household. I enjoy experimenting in the kitchen, with aspirations to one day call it edible cooking. My 2nd marriage is with Liverpool Football Club. We are now going through highs, after suffering years of lows.
